Randomly browsing the internet til i came upon an article about US college education quality being next to nothing in recent years.
I kind of agree that higher education is a stepping stone if you are able to pursue a career relevant to your major but what are the chances of that in today's society. Many grab the first job offered to them so they can avoid drowning in their student loan, even if it's under-qualified.
"Get an education, they said. It'll land you a good high-paying job, they said."
All too familiar...
From what i see, it doesn't matter what the content is as long as the desired end result is achieved.
End result: a college graduate.
Content: nothing useful, actually
Not going to comment any further since i have no understanding of how overseas job markets are like. At least SG jobs just want you to have actually worked before and/or are willing to train absolute rookies. We have internships within majority of our tertiary education curriculum.
